Financial sustainability

The financial dimension of sustainable development is about providing people and society with financial security.

KBN is by far the largest and most important lender to the Norwegian local government sector. Approximately one-half of all the sector’s debt-financed investment in school buildings, nurseries, sports halls and retirement homes etc. is financed by KBN. As a major financial institution with the very important task of providing Norway’s municipalities with stable access to financing on reasonable terms, we feel that we have a particular responsibility to support long-term, sustainable debt management. KBN works to raise awareness of financial issues and to provide customers with the best possible basis for making decisions by engaging in knowledge-sharing and dialogue and by offering digital tools such as KBN Finans. As a systemically important financial institution, we work to contribute to financial stability.
