New Bryne Sports Hall: – A Fantastic Boost for Education, Sports, and the Future

– It has become a fantastic activity hall with a clear environmental profile that blends seamlessly into the landscape, confirm Sami Munawar and Vibeke Øyri, respectively the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Accountant of Time Municipality.

Green and Social Sustainability

This is no ordinary hall that Time Municipality has acquired. Not only is it unusually large, with over 5000 square meters of usable space.

– Bryne Sports Hall has also been realized in accordance with Time Municipality’s ambitious Climate and Energy Plan. One of the main goals of this plan is for all municipal facilities to be emissions-free by 2035. The hall also fulfills several other sub-goals in the plan, including the requirement that all new buildings over 5000 square meters be BREEAM NOR-certified with a classification of “Very Good” or better, as Sami explains.

In essence, this certification ensures that all key aspects of sustainability have been considered. Nine categories are covered: leadership, health and indoor environment, energy, transportation, water, materials, waste, pollution, land use, and ecology.

– In practice, Bryne Sports Hall exemplifies how we, in Time Municipality, are working to meet future needs in terms of both green and social sustainability, says Vibeke. As the population grows, the challenge must be addressed by constructing good, safe meeting places in line with climate and environmental requirements.

Bryne Sports Hall is undoubtedly a significant investment for the municipality. And it’s a substantial investment. Fortunately, building sustainably is a choice that is rewarded in Norway in 2024.

The project leader behind Bryne Sports Hall, Arvid Vistnes, was the one in Time Municipality who, together with contractor Skanska, designed the final construction plans. He also put his signature on the application to KBN for a green loan. This application met KBN’s requirements for low-energy buildings, securing a green loan with a comfortable margin, explains Anne Jenny Dvergsdal, Senior Relationship Manager at KBN.
